Just launch it!

How long have I been thinking about launching my blog? Hmm, I gotta think about that one. Let me add up ALL the months! In total, this idea has been floating around in my mind for about a year... 12 months of thinking and planning and brainstorming and delaying and putting it off. Why do we do that?!

Taking care has been a passion of mine for a very long time. Growing up, I remember being good at focusing on what I wanted, and what my needs were. Some would say I was selfish, but I would say I was self-focused and took care of myself. I have always been in tune with my body and have had strong body awareness. However, I guess my body awareness was always stronger than my mind awareness. That is just starting to become stronger now for me (I'm learning that mindset is literally everything!). Since becoming a mother in 2014, 'taking care' has a completely whole new meaning to me. It is a humongous shift in your self and your life. That is definitely another post for another day haha! Only now, 6 years later, I am beginning to come out of that blur and finally able to sit down, focus on, and build something that contributes to my mental wellness; a way to take care of my mind.

So this blog was born! A thought in my mind, 12 months ago. I wanted it to exist for my mind. And for YOUR mind! Having lived through 4 years of pre and post partum depression, that was my first thought: ways to take care of our mental-health. But my vision for this blog has grown to include both body + mental care. Both are equally important!! For each and every one of us on this planet. Not one person deserves more care of their mind and body than another. My belief is that if we care for ourselves daily, and make it true priority, greatness can only flow from that.

Here is a lovely term for you from author Emily Ley: 'Soul Rest' or as I see it, soul care. She talks about 'Soul Fires' as unsettled or anxious energy within us. The way to soothe a soul fire (stress, overwhelm, anxiety, fussiness, irritation, crankiness) is with soul rest (kindness, self-love, calm). And to Emily, it is more than just a nap or getting a pedicure. Soul rest is doing things that fill your soul, rest your soul, calm your soul; they are things that 'replenish our best attributes and draws us back to our best selves'. Beautiful. THAT is what I want!!

So take care. And by taking care I mean really really really taking care. How? This blog will hopefully inspire you to find what will help you to restore, replenish, and rejuvenate your body and mind. You may have no clue what will do that for you (there are literally 1000s of ways out there) but my aim is that this blog will assist you in figuring it out. Maybe you'll read an entry from either myself of one of my guest bloggers with ways that we take care and it could be the catalyst for your own personal way! The idea of that makes me so excited!!

Therefore: I am just going to launch it!!!! I will choose to not listen to the "Alisha, its not good enough", "Its not ready", "The blog isn't interesting enough yet", "No one is going to read it" noise in my mind right now. Instead, I will listen to those of you who have motivated me to remember the importance of this blog, and who have told me take the plunge and press the little button to make my blog live.
